Soften the lines from nose to mouth
Nasolabial folds are the lines that run from the side of the nose to the corners of the mouth. Often called smile lines, they deepen with age as the face loses volume in the cheek area and the soft tissue settles downward.
Filler placed along the fold (and often, more importantly, in the supporting cheek area above) softens the appearance of these lines and restores a smoother contour to the mid-face.
Treating the fold versus treating the cause
Nasolabial folds are often deepened by volume loss higher up in the cheek area, rather than by changes to the line itself. Treating only the fold without addressing the supporting cheek above can sometimes produce a heavy or unnatural-looking result. At consultation we’ll look at the whole mid-face together and plan the most appropriate approach. In some cases this may mean treating the cheek instead of, or as well as, the fold itself.
What to expect from your treatment
Following a free consultation, treatment is typically delivered using a cannula to minimise bruising. The treatment itself takes around 30 minutes. Topical numbing cream is applied first.
Some swelling and tenderness are normal for the first few days. Results are visible immediately, with the full settled effect at two weeks.
