Frown line treatment (the 11s)

Soften the 11s between your brows

The vertical lines that form between the eyebrows, often called the 11s or glabellar lines, are caused by the repeated movement of the corrugator and procerus muscles when you frown, concentrate, or squint. They’re one of the most common reasons people seek anti-wrinkle treatment, partly because they can make you look stressed, tired, or angry even when you’re not.

Treatment relaxes these muscles, smoothing the lines and softening the overall expression around the brow.

What to expect from your treatment

We start with a free consultation, where I’ll examine your frown movement and the existing lines. Treatment involves a small number of injections placed in the muscles between and just above the brows.

The treatment takes only a few minutes. Most clients describe each injection as a quick, mild pinch. There’s no real downtime, and you can return straight to your day afterwards.

Results and timing

Softening typically starts within three to five days, with full effect visible at around two weeks. Results last in the region of three to four months. A complimentary two-week review is included so we can assess and, if needed, provide a free top-up following clinical assessment.

Why frown line treatment works well alongside the forehead

The frown muscles work in opposition to the forehead muscle. Treating one without the other can occasionally create a slightly imbalanced look, where one set of muscles compensates for the other. Treating both together is the most common approach and tends to produce the most natural-looking outcome. We’ll discuss whether this is right for you at consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I still be able to frown?

You’ll still be able to express, but the deep furrowing that creates the 11s will be reduced. The aim is softening the lines, not eliminating all movement.

Some clients report a reduction in tension headaches after frown line treatment, although this is a secondary effect rather than a clinical claim. Treatment is delivered for the appearance of the lines themselves.

If you have early frown lines or a strong frown habit, preventative treatment can help slow the formation of deeper static lines over time. We’d discuss whether this is right for you at consultation.

Most people start to notice softening within three to five days, with the full result visible at around two weeks.
