Soften the appearance of a gummy smile
A gummy smile is a smile where a noticeable amount of upper gum is shown above the teeth when you smile fully. It’s caused by an overactive muscle that lifts the upper lip too high, exposing more of the gum line than feels natural to the person concerned.
Anti-wrinkle treatment relaxes this muscle, allowing the upper lip to sit a few millimetres lower when you smile. The result is a softer, more balanced smile that still looks natural.
What to expect from your treatment
Following a free consultation, the treatment involves a very small number of precise injections placed in the muscle that lifts the upper lip. The whole appointment takes only a few minutes.
There’s no real downtime. You may notice a slight feeling of stiffness around the upper lip for the first few days as the treatment settles.
Results and timing
Most clients begin to see results within five to seven days, with the full effect at around two weeks. Results typically last around three months. A complimentary review is included at the two-week point.
Whether it's right for you
Gummy smile treatment is most effective when the gum show is caused primarily by a strong upper lip muscle, rather than by tooth or jaw position. At consultation I’ll assess your smile carefully and let you know what’s realistically achievable. If treatment isn’t likely to give you the result you’re looking for, I’ll tell you so.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much will my gum show be reduced?
Most clients see a reduction of two to four millimetres, depending on the strength of the muscle and the dose used. We’ll discuss what’s realistic for your individual anatomy at consultation.
Will my smile still look natural?
Yes. The aim is always a subtle, balanced result. Your smile will still feel and look like yours, with less gum visible above the upper teeth.
How often will I need to come back?
Most clients return at around the three-month mark for a top-up. The exact interval varies between individuals.
Can it be combined with a lip flip?
Sometimes. The two treatments work on different muscles, and combining them can create a more harmonious smile in the right candidate. We’d discuss this at consultation.
