Subtle, natural-looking lip enhancement

Lip filler is one of the most popular dermal filler treatments and one of the most commonly searched for. It enhances shape, restores volume, and improves symmetry, with the right approach producing soft, natural-looking results that complement your face.

As a registered nurse, I take a conservative, considered approach. The aim is to enhance, not to overfill. Most first-time clients have between 0.5ml and 1.1ml of filler, depending on the starting point, the look they’re going for, and what suits their facial proportions.

The techniques I offer

Different lip techniques produce different results. The right choice depends on your starting lip shape, the result you want, and how you want your lips to feel and move.

Classic lip enhancement (1.1ml)

A balanced enhancement to volume, shape, and definition using a needle technique. The result is fuller, naturally shaped lips with even hydration and a clear cupid’s bow. Best for clients wanting a soft, classic improvement.

The same level of enhancement delivered using a blunt-tipped cannula instead of a needle. The cannula technique tends to produce less bruising and swelling and is well suited to clients who are nervous about the needle approach or who want minimal downtime.

A smaller volume of filler used to gently restore lost lip volume or address very specific symmetry concerns. Suitable for clients who want a very subtle change or who are at the start of their filler journey.

A specialist vertical injection technique that lifts and defines the lip body, creating a more pronounced cupid’s bow and a flatter, sculpted shape. See the Russian lip filler page for more detail.

What to expect from your treatment

Every booking begins with a free consultation. We’ll look at your lips together, discuss the look you’d like, and decide which technique and volume is right for you. If we proceed in the same appointment, topical numbing cream is applied first to keep comfort levels high.

Treatment usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes. Some swelling, tenderness, and small bruises are normal for the first few days. Lips can feel firm or slightly uneven during this initial settling period, which is normal.

Results and timing

Initial results are visible immediately, although the full settled result is usually seen at the two-week mark, once swelling has fully subsided. A complimentary two-week review is included so we can assess the result together.

Results typically last around six to twelve months, depending on the volume placed, your metabolism, and lifestyle factors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my lips look natural?

That’s the entire goal. The starting volumes I work with are conservative, and every treatment is tailored to your existing lip shape and facial proportions. Most clients find that friends and family notice they look refreshed without being able to tell what’s changed.

Around six to twelve months for most clients. Smaller volumes tend to break down more quickly than larger ones. Top-ups are typically needed every nine to twelve months to maintain the result.

Some swelling is normal for the first 24 to 72 hours. Lips can feel firm and look slightly larger than the final result during this period. Full settling usually happens by two weeks.

Some clients have no bruising at all; others have small bruises that resolve within a few days. The cannula technique tends to produce less bruising than the needle approach. Avoiding alcohol, blood-thinning medications (where safe), and strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment helps reduce bruising.

Yes. Hyaluronic acid lip filler can be dissolved using Hyalase. See the filler dissolving page for more detail.

Lip filler adds volume; the lip flip uses anti-wrinkle treatment to gently roll the upper lip outward. The lip flip is a more subtle option for clients who don’t want volume. Some clients combine both for a defined, balanced result. We can discuss the right approach at consultation.
